| The source of my work is my life experience, which has developed within me an ironic world outlook. The characteristic feature of this outlook is that the artist himself (visibly or at times invisibly) is included in the context of his grotesque world, and therefore, an ironic world outlook becomes self-irony; the basis of my lyricism...
The process of my work in a picture can be defined as tending away from the object toward the symbol, and is oriented more to a particular environment, a changeable state of the picture, or an expressive "power charge". This power charge, the main element of the picture, finds various methods of expression: dynamics of color, freedom of hand, expressiveness of line and free drifting of point. The demoralization of the object, rippling quality of space, and twinkling of color can also add to this effect. I try to draw not the object, but its shade and shadow. The expressiveness of the graphic form appears in connection with the contrasting comparison of different textures, as well as by their arrangement, and thereby achieves various plastic intonations. Color as a means of graphic expression is a necessary, but minor element in comparison to light.
